Nobody Sent Us a Memo.
Somewhere between the card catalog and ChatGPT, the world changed.
Nobody asked if we were ready. Nobody slowed down to explain it. And nobody - not a single AI newsletter, YouTube channel, or LinkedIn thought leader - bothered to write about it for people like us.
People who built real careers before the internet was fast. Who learned to navigate complexity without a chatbot. Who have 20, 30, maybe 40 years of hard-won expertise sitting in their heads - and are now being told they need to "catch up."
I'm calling that what it is: backward.
Here's What Nobody Is Saying
The people who benefit most from AI aren't the ones who built it.
They're the ones wise enough to use it well.
And wisdom - the kind that comes from decades of navigating real organizations, real relationships, real failure, and real success - is exactly what AI is missing on its own.
AI is fast. It's tireless. It can process more information in a second than you can read in a year. But it has no judgment. No instinct. No context for what actually matters in a room full of people with competing agendas.
You have all of that.
Put the two together, and you don't have someone "catching up." You have an unfair advantage.
That's what Plot Twist is about.
What This Is (And What It Isn't)
Every week, Plot Twist delivers one focused, practical, no-fluff issue on using AI to get more out of your work, your money, your health, and your life - written specifically for the 40+ professional who didn't grow up with AI and doesn't have time for a learning curve.
No jargon. No hype.
Just honest, useful, specific - every single week.
We cover:
Career - staying relevant, getting hired, negotiating like you mean it
Money - building wealth, running a business, making AI work for your income
Health - using AI to understand your body and advocate for yourself
Retirement & Finance - planning smarter without drowning in complexity
Travel - going further, spending less, enjoying every minute
Learning - staying sharp, picking up new skills, never feeling left behind
The Fine Print - the honest, unfiltered truth about what AI gets wrong and why that matters
And every issue includes something called The Twist - real stories from real people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who tried something with AI and want to tell you exactly what happened.
Because the best proof isn't a case study. It's a real person saying, "I tried this, here's what happened, here's what I'd tell you."
This Week's Prompt
Start here. Seriously - open ChatGPT, Claude, or whatever AI tool you have access to right now and paste this in:
"I am a [your job title or role] with [X] years of experience in [your industry or field]. I want to start using AI more intentionally in my work and life. Based on what you know about my background, what are the 5 most valuable and specific ways I could use AI right now to save time, make better decisions, or create new opportunities? Be specific and practical - not generic."
Fill in the brackets with your actual details. The more specific you are, the better the answer.
Then hit enter and see what comes back.
This prompt does something most AI interactions don't - it centers YOUR experience as the starting point instead of treating you like a blank slate. Because you're not a blank slate. You're the whole point.
This Week's Tool Drop
ChatGPT (chat.openai.com)
If you haven't used it yet - or you tried it once, felt underwhelmed, and never went back - this week is your fresh start.
The free version is genuinely useful. The paid version ($20/month) is worth it once you're using it daily. But start free.
The single most important thing to know about ChatGPT: the quality of your answer depends entirely on the quality of your question. Vague question, vague answer. Specific question with real context, genuinely useful answer.
That's what we'll be working on together every week - getting you to the specific, useful answers faster.
Before You Go
I have one request.
Hit reply and tell me one thing: what's the one thing you most want to figure out with AI right now?
A work problem. A life question. Something you've been meaning to try but haven't. Something that confuses you. Something that makes you nervous. Anything.
I read every single reply personally. And what you tell me directly shapes what I write about next. Your question might become next week's issue.
So talk to me. That's what Plot Twist is for.
See you next week.
Elizabeth
P.S. If you know someone who's been saying "I need to figure out this AI thing" - forward this to them. They'll thank you. And so will I.
